This year, we took our seats behind third base and then headed down to the field. Will started flirting with some blond tweens who were trying (too hard) for an autograph in the front row. When they finally gave up, they offered us their spot at the railing. A few minutes later, the ushers shooed people away from the railing, including us, but two nice fans our age who were about to sit in the front row offered us their two extra seats. Upgrade!
It was awesome. Derek Jeter warmed up right in front of Will before the game. Will waved at everyone on the field, and next to us, and behind us....
The fan next to us offered Will his sunglasses for a spell and while Will was wearing them, Alex Rodriguez glanced over. He turned back to the field for a second and then did a double-take back over to Will. We giggled like little kids.
Nick Markakis of the Orioles drilled a foul ball down the third-base line in the 6th inning. The third base umpire, Laz Diaz, surprised all of us by running the ball over and giving it to Will. Will's probably not even sure what it is, but he must have held on to it for the next two innings like it was a prized possession.
