March 20: Flying Stuff

Saturday was all about flying things. First, Will and daddy played frisbee golf in the morning. There's an easy course near the University of Maryland that is at the end of a small airport runway. There was lots for Will to watch, especially the small planes landing overhead.

Then daddy and Will went to the College Park Aviation Museum and Will had a great time. Both got to play with airplane controls, spin a wooden propeller, sit in a cockpit, watch small planes take off and land, and play with plane rockers, rollers and peddlers. It's a great small museum for kids.

The small airstrip is where the Wright brothers tested their first airplanes after they contracted with the government beginning in 1909. They had flown for the first time six years earlier but there wasn't much interest until the government thought of the military implications.
