February 10: Blizzard of the Century - Wednesday

DC got the second wave of it's blizzard Tuesday night and Wednesday. Patti, of course, had to drive home from work in the worst of it. Trees were dropping limbs around her and it was an absolute white-out situation so we're so thankful she made it home safely. With today's snow, DC had it's highest snowfall total in history, surpassing a monster storm in 1899.

The winds were fierce today - gusting up to 40 mph - so Patrick and Will never left the house. Neither did anyone else on our street - Patti was the only car on our street today and we never saw anyone outside. The Federal Government has been closed since mid-day on Friday because there's no public transportation, the two local airports are closed, and we just received another foot of snow on top of the 24 inches we received on Saturday. Stay tuned for pictures tomorrow if we can get outside (we have icicles forming on our door frame now).
